TL;DR
- Four plans: Base $39/mo, Pro $94/mo, Unlimited Smart $174/mo and Unlimited Prime $379/mo on monthly billing. Annual billing takes roughly 17% off.
- The plan is priced by volume, not by mailbox. Smartlead's pricing page advertises unlimited email accounts at no extra cost. Sends per month (6,000 to 500,000) and contact storage are what separate the tiers.
- Mailboxes are the bigger bill at scale. On our arithmetic, a 30-mailbox setup on Pro spends more on mailboxes than on Smartlead itself.
- Add-ons are where budgets drift: SmartServers ($39 each), SmartDelivery ($49 to $599), email verification (from $32) and extra client workspaces ($29 each).
- Refund terms are narrow: 7 days on a new subscription, and add-ons like SmartSenders are non-refundable. The 14-day free trial is a separate thing.
Smartlead's sticker prices are easy to find. What is harder to work out is what running cold email on it actually costs per month, because the platform fee is only one line: mailboxes, domains, verification and deliverability add-ons all sit outside the plan. This guide lays out every plan and limit, the extras that cost money, the refund rules, and a worked monthly total for a 10-mailbox and a 30-mailbox setup.

Sourcing note: plan prices, limits, add-on prices, trial and refund terms are VERIFIED against Smartlead's pricing page and help center, and Google Workspace pricing against Google's page, all read on 29 September 2026. The Short Answer
Most small outbound teams land on Smartlead Pro at $94 a month ($78.30 on annual billing), which covers 90,000 sends and 30,000 contacts. Once you count mailboxes and domains, a 10-mailbox program costs roughly $144 to $169 a month all-in and a 30-mailbox program roughly $245 to $320, before verification and any deliverability add-ons. Base is for testing, Unlimited Smart is for teams that want unlimited contact storage and included verification, and Prime is for agencies that need private infrastructure and client workspaces.
Smartlead Plans and Prices
| Plan | Monthly | Annual (per month) | Sends / month | Contact storage | Verified emails |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Base | $39 | $32.50 | 6,000 | 2,000 | 2,000 (add-on) |
| Pro | $94 | $78.30 | 90,000 | 30,000 | 30,000 (add-on) |
| Unlimited Smart | $174 | $144.50 | 150,000 | Unlimited | 50,000 included |
| Unlimited Prime | $379 | $314.60 | 500,000 | Unlimited | 170,000 included |
Smartlead's help center describes annual billing as 17% off; the per-month annual figures above match that, though the percentage check is our arithmetic. We did not find a published custom plan. Third-party sites sometimes call contact storage "active leads" (directional); we use Smartlead's own term.
What separates the tiers
- Base to Pro is a jump from 6,000 to 90,000 monthly sends. Base is a testing tier: 6,000 sends is roughly 200 a day, which is only a few mailboxes at conservative volumes.
- Pro to Smart removes the contact-storage cap and bundles 50,000 verified emails a month, which matters if you build large lists.
- Smart to Prime adds 3 SmartServers with OAuth, private infrastructure, a dedicated manager, a private Slack channel and 3 or more client workspaces.
- Mailboxes are not a tier lever. Smartlead's pricing page says unlimited email accounts at no extra cost. You still pay whoever hosts the mailboxes.
Check the feature matrix before you buy. Sources disagreed on whether warmup is included on Base, and on which tiers include API and webhook access. We are not stating either. Confirm both on the live pricing page if they decide your plan.
The Extras That Cost Money
| Add-on | Price | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| SmartSenders mailboxes | $3.99 to $9 / mailbox / mo | Google/Outlook $4.50, Outlook InfraInbox $5, SMTP $3.99, pre-warmed $9 |
| SmartSenders domains | $13 to $19 / domain / yr | Google/Outlook $13, InfraInbox $16, pre-warmed $18, SMTP $19 |
| SmartServers | $39 / server / mo | Dedicated sending servers (3 come with Prime) |
| SmartDelivery | $49 / $174 / $599 per mo | Inbox-placement testing: Growth (120 tests), Pro (unlimited, 200 senders), Expert (unlimited, 500 senders) |
| Email verification | From $32 / mo | Credit-based; included on Smart and Prime |
| Extra client workspaces | $29 / client / mo | Pro and above; tied to white-label use |
Two caveats on SmartSenders. The Zapmail standard option is sold in packs of 1 to 20 domains with 1 to 5 mailboxes each, and the Mailreef SMTP option has a 15-domain, 75-mailbox minimum, so it only suits large builds. We did not find published pricing for extra leads or data credits, so treat lead data as a separate line and see our guide on email verification tools for what verification costs elsewhere.
What a Real Stack Costs (Our Arithmetic)
These totals are not a Smartlead quote. Assumptions: two mailboxes per domain, domains at SmartSenders' $13 a year, the Pro plan on monthly billing ($94), and no add-ons other than where stated.
| Setup | Smartlead Pro | Mailboxes | Domains | Monthly total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 mailboxes, SmartSenders Google ($4.50) | $94 | $45 | $5.42 | $144.42 |
| 10 mailboxes, Google Workspace direct ($7) | $94 | $70 | $5.42 | $169.42 |
| 30 mailboxes, SmartSenders Google ($4.50) | $94 | $135 | $16.25 | $245.25 |
| 30 mailboxes, Google Workspace direct ($7) | $94 | $210 | $16.25 | $320.25 |
Three things follow. First, at 30 mailboxes the mailboxes cost more than the platform in both scenarios. Second, adding a $32 verification plan lifts every row by $32, while moving to Unlimited Smart adds $80 a month over Pro but includes 50,000 verifications, so heavy list builders can come out ahead. Third, the Google direct price of $7 is Google's Business Starter rate after the first-year promotional price of $6.30 for the first 20 users; check Google's current pricing before you plan around it. Microsoft 365 pricing is not included here because we did not verify it. If you are deciding between the two providers for sending, see Google Workspace vs Microsoft 365 for cold email.
Trial and Refund Rules
- Free trial: 14 days, no credit card, capped at 2,500 sends and 1,250 contact storage. Warmup emails do not count toward sends, and white label is excluded.
- New subscriptions: refundable within 7 days of payment.
- Renewals: refundable within 3 days, most recent renewal only.
- Upgrades: not refundable, though you can downgrade.
- Non-refundable add-ons: SmartSenders, SmartInfra, SmartDelivery, SmartProspects, email verification and SmartDialer.
The practical lesson: do not buy a large SmartSenders batch on day one of a trial. Domains and mailboxes cannot be refunded, so validate the campaign on a small set first.
How Smartlead Compares on Price Structure
Instantly's pricing page lists outreach plans at $47 (Growth), $97 (Hypergrowth) and $358 (Lightspeed) a month, and bundled plans at $94 (Starter), $194 (Scale) and $555 (Agency), with unlimited email accounts on every plan. We are comparing structure only. The two tools price on sends and contacts rather than seats, so the mailbox bill is the same in both stacks. Our head-to-head covers features and deliverability tooling.
Which Plan Should You Pick?
| If you... | Pick |
|---|---|
| Are testing an offer with a few mailboxes | Base ($39) |
| Run 5 to 30 mailboxes for your own company | Pro ($94) |
| Build big lists and want verification bundled | Unlimited Smart ($174) |
| Run client campaigns or need private infrastructure | Unlimited Prime ($379) |
Whatever you choose, tool cost is a small part of what makes cold email work. Volume per mailbox, authentication, list quality and warmup decide results; see how many domains and mailboxes you need, SPF, DKIM and DMARC setup and cold email cost per meeting for the budget that matters.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Smartlead cost in 2026?
Smartlead plans run from $39 a month (Base) to $379 a month (Unlimited Prime) on monthly billing, with roughly 17% off on annual billing. Pro, the plan most small teams use, is $94 a month. Mailboxes, domains and add-ons are extra.
Does Smartlead limit the number of mailboxes?
Smartlead's pricing page advertises unlimited email accounts at no extra cost. Plans are limited by monthly sends and contact storage instead. You still pay for the mailboxes themselves, from about $4.50 a month each through SmartSenders or from Google or Microsoft directly.
Is there a Smartlead free trial or refund?
There is a 14-day free trial with no credit card, capped at 2,500 sends. Separately, new paid subscriptions have a 7-day refund window. Add-ons such as SmartSenders, SmartDelivery and email verification are non-refundable.
What does a 10-mailbox Smartlead setup cost per month?
On our arithmetic, about $144 to $169 a month on the Pro plan, depending on whether mailboxes come from SmartSenders at $4.50 or from Google Workspace at $7. That excludes email verification and other add-ons. It is our estimate, not a Smartlead quote.
What extras does Smartlead charge for?
SmartServers cost $39 each a month, SmartDelivery inbox-placement testing costs $49 to $599 a month, email verification starts at $32 a month, extra client workspaces are $29 each, and SmartSenders sells mailboxes and domains separately. Verification is included on the Smart and Prime plans.
Which Smartlead plan should I choose?
Base suits testing at about 6,000 sends a month. Pro suits most single-company programs at up to 90,000 sends. Unlimited Smart suits teams building large lists that want bundled verification. Prime suits agencies that need client workspaces and private infrastructure.
